Dear Friend,
Are you waiting for anything?
Waiting for the biopsy results.
Waiting for a baby.
Waiting for a loved one to make a turn-around.
Waiting for a medical condition to get better.
Waiting for a job interview.
Waiting for the unemployment check.
Waiting for something--anything--to change.
There is plenty to wait for in this world. And frankly, it's pretty awful to wait. Women who have prayed for 30 years for a loved one to turn over a new leaf amaze me. Waiting takes faith.
I remember when I was VERY pregnant with my son. He missed his delivery due date, and I thought, That's OK. I can handle this. Another day passed. And another day passed. By now he was seven days late. Besides being proud that he was so comfy inside me, I was starting to feel uncomfortable with the waiting.
Then the Lord reminded me that He has a timing for everything in this world. Jesus came in the kairos moment, or "the fullness of time." In other words, he came in the perfect moment. I started to be reassured that my son would be born in the perfect moment that God had appointed for him. God already knew when he would go to school. Who all his little friends would be. God knew all the seasons that my son would walk through in his life. God's timing would be perfect in all things for my son.
So I waited. And waited some more. The amazing part was, I was no longer waiting with worry. I was waiting with HOPE. Waiting with PEACE. Waiting for the joy set before me. That joy ultimately arrived ten days late, but the wait was worth it.
What are you waiting for today? I have no doubt you are probably having to wait much longer than I did. How long has it been? Weeks? Years? Decades. Ask God to fill you with his hope and peace as you wait. What is God's eternal perspective on your situation? The Bible is a great place do go for that encouragement.
Be encouraged by the psalmist today:
"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." - Psalm 27:14
Be assured that God is with you in the waiting.
Love,
Your Friend
